Two popular beaches in HRM are closed due to high bacteria levels.

The city says you should not swim in Birch Cove Beach and Shubie Park Beach until the water quality advisory is lifted.

Lifeguards will be on site to advise against swimming.

HRM says high bacteria levels can be caused by a number of factors including animals, warm weather, low water levels and rain.
