Severe weather is impacting parts of our province.

Flash floods are causing washouts in Digby, Annapolis, Kings and Hants counties.

An emergency alert has been issued, residents are urged to monitor the local forecast and use caution if travelling.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued late Thursday afternoon in many of these areas.

Environment Canada says up to 80 millimetres of rain could fall in the heaviest downpours.

The Department of Public Works advises residents to avoid driving through flooded areas.
