Chief Sam Mamakwa and other Leaders from the Wunnumin Lake First Nation will be joined by Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Grand Chief Derek Fox at a press conference Thursday.

The event is being held at the Valhalla Inn as a response to a series of tragedies in the Wunnuwin Lake First Nation.

They are appealing to the provincial and federal government for assistance after the death of three community members over a 36-hour period.

The deaths have been traumatic to the community that does not currently have appropriate supports.

Wunnumin Lake First Nation is an Oji-Cree community located approximately 360 kilometres northeast of Sioux Lookout, Ontario, accessible only by air and seasonal winter roads.
