August 26th edition:
Story #1: SCHOOL BUSES
We’re just over a week and a half away from the start of SCHOOL. The reminders are already underway about SCHOOL BUS SAFETY. Every year around this time, the “JUST STOP CAMPAIGN” begins. When a school bus displays its ‘red flashing lights’, you have to come to a complete stop from both directions. If you don’t…..fines can range anywhere from $400 up to $2000, and six demerit points. PLUS, you can face possible jail time.
Story #2: BORDER NUMBERS
The Canadian border opened to American tourists 2 ½ weeks ago. Here’s what we know so far: Canada Border Services Agency said almost 220,000 people crossed the land border in the first week. ONTARIO was the most popular province Americans decided to enter. Of the 220,000………………206,000 crossed into Ontario.
Story #3: HOT DOGS
Do you like HOT DOGS? I think we’re a ‘hot dog eating kind of town’. But, eat them in moderation. Don’t go eating three or four or five in one sitting….that’s too much. Case in point: A new University Of Michigan study says: eating a hot dog shortens your lifespan by 36 minutes. They found it wasn’t just hot dogs. The list included sugar based drinks and cheese. The study also found that Peanut butter and Jelly Sandwiches adds 33 minutes to your life! Go and eat a PB&J sandwich………and maybe just one hot dog? LOL
