Fire crews are battling a fire at a power generating station in east Saint John.

First responders were called to the Bayside Generating Station after 3 p.m. Friday.

Flames and heavy black smoke could be seen coming from the roof of the building.

A number of city fire crews were on the scene, along with police and paramedics from Ambulance NB.

The generating station is owned by NB Power.
