The Red Lake OPP says there are currently at the scene of stand-off at a remote camp on Little Vermillion Lake.

The incident began around 7:15 this morning when the OPP received reports of an armed person who had barricaded them inside a cabin.

Officers have cordoned off the immediate area and are negotiated with the person to try to resolve the situation peacefully.

The OPP say they have brought in crisis negotiators, an Emergency Response Team, a canine unit and Tactical Emergency Medical Services.

There is an increased police presence in Red Lake, but there is no threat to public safety at this time.
