Fire has destroyed a single-family home on Sugarmaple Lane in Quispamsis.

Reports were called in just after 1 am Wednesday morning.

Kennebecasis Fire Chief Mike Boyle says when they arrived, the fire had already broken through windows and the roof of the residence.

Firefighters were on the scene for around two hours trying to extinguish the large blaze.

Reports on social media stated explosions and large plumes of smoke could be seen from kilometres away.

The homeowners were not there at the time, and no one was hurt.

An investigation is currently underway to determine a cause.
