The city of Halifax hopes to help fund the ice in the Sackville Community Arena, according to city councillor Pam Lovelace.

The rink posted on social media Tuesday that they would not be able top put ice into the rink because the city would not give them money.

“[The city] decided Sackville tax dollars should be spent in the rest of HRM, but not Sackville,” the post said.

Lovelace responded Tuesday evening, saying the arena is operated by the Lake District Recreation Association, a non-profit, according to a social media post.

She said the non-profit made the decision not to put the ice in the rink.

But she said the city is working with them “in order to provide additional funding for the organization.”
Lovelace said she hopes to “help them get through this funding crunch.”
