Residents and businesses in Saint Andrews will need to boil their water until further notice.
A boil water advisory was issued Monday for all customers on the municipality’s water system.
“Due to a malfunction in sensors over the weekend, chlorine levels dropped below acceptable levels according to provincial regulations,” the town said in a statement.
All water used for consumption or cooking purposes must be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute.
It is not necessary to boil water used for household purposes such as bathing, showering, laundry or washing dishes.
Adults, adolescents and older children may bathe, shower or wash provided no water is swallowed. Toddlers, infants and immunocompromised individuals should only be sponge bathed to avoid accidental ingestion.
“We will advise immediately when the order has been lifted,” said the town.
