If you need to park in a construction zone, you will not have to pay a parking fee.
Thunder Bay City Council decided to wave these fees in last night’s meeting.
The idea was brought to the table in a meeting last month, stating construction zones effect nearby businesses by making it less appealing to park there.
City Manager, John Collin, says while parking rates have been a large topic of discussion this year, it is now put to rest.
“With Bylaw 298-2024 being approved this evening, we have completed this round of various parking initiatives, with a view to ultimately achieving parking as a sustainable initiative within the city,” said Collin.
He adds there will be ongoing review and reports back to council in the future.
