The federal NDP are done with the supply-and-confidence deal with the Liberals.
In a video posted to his social media page, leader Jagmeet Singh says the agreement is over and that the Liberals are “too weak, too selfish, too beholden to corporate interests” to stop the Conservatives.
That, he says, is a job for the NDP.
The deal with the Liberals was put in place to support Trudea’s minority government until 2025, as long as they help push through several policies.
The move comes nearly one week after the leader of the federal Conservatives called on Singh to pull out of the agreement, in order to trigger a fall election.
Pierre Polievre accused Singh of clinging on to the deal in order to secure a $2.2 million pension, while referring to him as “sell-out, Singh”.
