The waiting is over for Kathleen Lynch.
The President of Confederation College will head to Boston this weekend with her family to compete in the Marathon on Monday, October 11th.
“I adopted a sixteen week training plan that someone else I knew had used, and found it worked better for me. I feel stronger through the training and I feel better than I did going into my last marathon in 2019,” Kathleen Lynch told Acadia News Monday.
Lynch first made it known in May that she was accepted in the race based on a strong showing in the 2019 Twin City Marathon.
Officials with the Boston Athletic Association indicated that any valid qualifying time from as far back as September 15, 2018 may be used to gain entry into the 2021 event.
When it comes to the COVID-19 protocols to go to Massachusetts, “I need a rapid antigen test to go to Boston and a PCR swab test to come back. At the Marathon, you need to provide either a negative test or proof of vaccination for entry and unless you’re running in the race, masks must be worn.”
The annual event is usually run on the third Monday of April.
