An early candidate for the 2022 Municipal Election.
With over 370 days until voters go to the polls, Lori Paras is making another run for Thunder Bay City Council.
Paras put her name forward for one of the five At Large seats in 2018 and compiled 3,767 votes.
Paras feels she’s better prepared for 2022, adding “I had to understand the process and I realized how hard it was. It’s not easy to run an election campaign, it’s all on your own dollars or what you can fundraise.”
Paras will be running for the McKellar Ward seat, which is held by Brian Hamilton. Hamilton won in 2018 by a margin of just 210 votes over David George Noonan.
Paras stresses she’s good friends with Hamilton and they’ve had several conversations about both city and ward-specific issues.
“Being a year out, that’s when people start campaigning especially incumbents. I wanted to be respectful to him, that he knew that I was going to put my name forward if he had plans to speak to me about the election.”
Candidates can file nomination papers on Monday, May 2nd with it closing on Friday, August 19th at 2:00 p.m.
Election Day is Monday, October 24th.
