Another year of no Operation Red Nose Thunder Bay.
The organizing team announced Wednesday that the annual service to 2022, citing volunteer safety.
“Anything we do at St. John Ambulance, certainly whenever our volunteers are impacted, they are the face of St. John Ambulance, so we really need to protect them the most,” said Brian Edwards, the Fund Development & Volunteer Coordinator with St. John Ambulance, Thunder Bay & Northwestern Ontario. “The leadership team of the St. John Ambulance Ontario Council just wasn’t confident with the safety measures moving forward.”
St. John Ambulance has been the local host organization for Operation Red Nose Thunder Bay since 2009.
The volunteer based ride service, which generates proceeds to help support local youth and amateur sports initiatives, was also scrapped in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
