It took about 2 years but a bull elk in Colorado finally had a tire that had been around its neck removed. Colorado Parks and Wildlife were able to tranquilize the male elk and weren’t able to cut entirely through the tire because of a steel band inside, and had to remove the animal’s antlers as well, but they will grow back. Quite the process involved, but kudos to its success.

The wildlife service had received reports of the elk from the public. Wildlife officials explained that deer, elk and moose have been known to get their antlers stuck in a number of other materials, but this is the first known case of one with a tire. Wildlife official Scott Murdoch explained more about the rescue.
