False identity charges for a Toronto man after a traffic stop in the Intercity area.

It occurred Wednesday afternoon, when officers searched a vehicle under the Cannabis Control Act. The passenger of the vehicle initially gave identification which police believed to be false. The individual then tried to flee the scene but was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Further investigation led to police finding out the man’s real identity.

22-year-old Giocchino Jack Ricchio of Toronto has been charged with:

• Resisting a Peace Officer
• Using a Forged Document
• Breach of Probation
• Fail to Comply with a Release Order

Ricchio remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday. The driver in this incident was not charged.
