It’s back to business for both the Thunder Bay North Stars (7-1-0-0) and Kam River Fighting Walleye (1-1-1-0) this weekend.
The Fighting Walleye conclude their four game road trip against the Dryden GM Ice Dogs (3-2-1-0).
Head Coach Matt Valley and his club lost both games to the Red Lake Miners last weekend by scores of 4-2 on Friday the 8th and 3-2 in overtime on Saturday the 9th.
“Dryden is a team that comes at you hard, they come at you tough and they come at you for three periods,” Valley added. “Our guys have been preparing for that this week so let’s hope that translates into the game.”
Rob DeGagne and the North Stars will see a familiar opponent as the Wisconsin Lumberjacks (2-3-1-0) will be the opposition.
The North Stars outscored the Lumberjacks 9-1 in the previous double-header. DeGagne expects the visitors from Spooner to have more skaters in their lineup.
“I anticipate they’ll have between 18 and 20 skaters,” DeGagne noted. “A few guys couldn’t cross the border last weekend because 14 days hadn’t passed following their second dose.”
Game time both nights will be 7:30.
In other local hockey Friday, the Nipigon Elks battle the Thunder Bay Bandits in the Lakehead Junior Hockey League (LJHL) and all four Thunder Bay Kings’ clubs are in play.
