The provincial police in Terrace Bay are in a standoff with an individual who they believe to be armed.

On Sunday morning, around 1:20 a.m., officers were alerted to a situation at a home in Terrace Bay.

Officers have blocked off the nearby area and are working to resolve the situation peacefully.

Crisis negotiators are on the scene.

There is an increased police presence in Terrace Bay due to the incident.

The OPP says there is no threat to public safety at this time.

They are also asking members of the public to avoid the area.
