A boil-water advisory has been issued for several neighbourhoods in the Halifax Regional Municipality following a power interruption at the JD Kline (Pockwock) Lake Water Treatment Facility.

Halifax Water stated that while water treatment continued during the outage, there was a lack of chlorine disinfection for approximately 30 minutes, allowing a limited amount of unchlorinated water to enter the system.

The advisory affects Beaver Bank, Middle and Lower Sackville, Upper Hammonds Plains, Bedford, Fall River, Halifax, Timberlea, Spryfield, and Herring Cove. Residents in these areas are advised to boil their water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, preparing infant formula, making ice cubes or juices, washing fruits or vegetables, cooking, brushing teeth, or any other activities requiring human consumption.

Halifax Water emphasized that the advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
