The 15th Annual Gift From the Heart Radiothon is happening today on CKBW and Country 100.7, raising funds to improve breast cancer care on the South Shore. This year’s focus is on bringing MOLLI technology to South Shore Regional Hospital, offering patients a less invasive and more comfortable alternative to traditional breast cancer surgery procedures.
Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 Canadian women, and many patients undergo a procedure called wire localization before surgery. MOLLI replaces the traditional wire method with a small magnetic marker, allowing for more precise surgery while reducing discomfort. Bringing this technology to the South Shore means patients will have access to advanced care closer to home.
Donations made during the Gift From the Heart Radiothon will help fund this life-changing innovation.
Listeners can tune in to CKBW and Country 100.7 throughout the day to hear patient stories, learn more about how MOLLI works, and contribute to improving care for breast cancer patients in their community.
To donate or bid in the online auction, visit the Gift From the Heart Radiothon website or stop by the Best Western in Cookville where the event is taking place.
