Rescue efforts are underway in blizzard-like conditions in Cape Breton Highlands.
It is unknown how many are in need of help and reports indicate the individuals were several kilometers off the trail.
The situation has been ongoing overnight and resumed on Saturday but conditions are making it difficult.
According to emergency dispatchers, visibility is very bad and danger for rescuers is also high. Several attempts have been made however the snow is very deep with six feet snow drifts in some areas.
Family of one of the snowmobilers posted on Facebook saying they have not heard from them since 2 p.m. on Friday.
Efforts to locate them are being made on the ground and in the air with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and Department of Natural Resources involved.
