The Thunder Bay Police are searching for a suspect involved in the theft a vehicle early this (Wednesday) morning.

Officers were dispatched to Memorial Avenue just before 6:00 after receiving reports of a robbery.

Police say the suspect approached a parked pick-up truck with the occupants inside, and brandished a firearm, before driving away with the vehicle.

Responding officers saw the pick-up speed off, but did not pursue it in the interest of public safety.

The vehicle is described as an orange Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel and was then involved in a collision but fled the scene.

The pick-up likely has visible damage, and anyone who has seen it is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
