Today is National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day! This is the day to head into the slightly cold food storage unit and pick out those food items that you don’t recognize anymore. That’s a good rule of thumb to follow on a regular basis.

We’ve all come across items in the fridge that once was tasty, but now is just nasty.
Use this day to clean out your fridge (and freezer), top to bottom! When it comes to food safety, fall back on the sage advice of, “When in doubt, throw it out!” #CleanOutYourRefrigeratorDay pic.twitter.com/tCYpeIF8yp

Too many times you put some leftovers in the fridge with the intention of future munching, but they get pushed to the back and in a few weeks you have something that is not what you thought it was. You could have a contest to figure out what that food was before the mold and hair, or just clean out your refrigerator once a week just before the garbage goes out.

Be Afraid! Be VERY Afraid
It is “National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day!”

What lurks in the back of your fridge?
