Last night Canada’s Men’s Soccer team played in a very important match against Mexico in World Cup Qualifying. The CONCACAF tournament has been goin on for the last couple of months and the top 3 countries qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Canada’s men’s team hasn’t been to a World Cup since 1986. Canada won last night and are now a point up on the Americans, two points up on the Mexicans and Panamanians. This is a huge deal!! The game last night was in Edmonton and it was a little chilly. Before the match was even played, there were concerns with temperatures dropping to minus-8 degrees for kickoff and the grounds crew working hard to remove the snow at Commonwealth Stadium. Fortunately for Canada, the match was played and the snow didn’t factor into the conditions on the pitch — but it did provide a heritage moment. After Cyle Larin’s second goal, Sam Adekugbe leaped like Superman and landed perfectly into a snow pile.
