The tolls are officially off for Halifax bridges.

According to Steven Proctor, spokesperson for Halifax Harbour Bridges, the power has been turned off to the toll booths so crews can start removing equipment like coin machines and computers.

He says they are going lane by lane so they do not disrupt traffic in the process.

The tolls will not be turned back on before workers begin tearing them down next week, he says.
