Travel to the U.S. for non-essential reasons through its land borders is allowed once again.

It had stopped in March 2020 when Canada and the U.S. jointly closed their borders because of the pandemic.

Canada began allowing fully-vaccinated Americans into the country in August.

To travel to the U.S., you also have to be fully vaccinated.

There are no testing requirements if the trip is less than 72 hours.

You do have post vaccination and travel information through the ArriveCan app before returning to Canada.

The testing requirement is removed if the trip to the U.S. is 72 hours or shorter.

Children who travel to the United States won’t be permitted to return to school or daycare for fourteen days upon their return.

They are also restricted from participating in extracurricular activities like sports for the same period.

Local health officials are recommending you avoid non-essential travel to high-risk areas of COVID-19.
