A collision has shut down Highway 17 in both directions near Ignace.

The closure is in place at the west entrance to the Lodge Lake Picnic Area. Ontario’s 511 service lists all lanes as closed in both directions.

The affected section of the highway is a key route between Dryden, Vermilion Bay, and Ear Falls. Drivers are being told to expect delays and consider detouring where possible.

Emergency responders are on site. There is no information yet on injuries or how long the highway will remain closed.
