This morning I opened up a can of worms when I mentioned “show shoveling etiquette”. What is that? To me, it simply means respecting your neighbours property during the Winter months and not dumping your driveway snow on their property. Does this make sense?
I think for me, this goes back to growing up. My Father would always tell me to be respectful of others’ property and keep “our driveway snow” on our property.
So, every winter this happens. If you were to look at my house, on the right side I would have the ability to put some of my driveway snow on my neighbours property…..but I don’t. On the left side, my neighbours (amazing people), have never put snow on my property, and for that…I thank them.
When it comes to the boulevard, that’s a different story. I say, go for it.
Here are some of the comments on our Text Line that came in about my “snow shoveling etiquette”:
“It’s everyone’s snow, and it’s only snow. It will melt. It’s everyone’s snow man. LOL”
“I 100% agree with you”
“What if your neighbours property is clean from the wind and then blows it onto your property”
“I’m glad I’m not your neighbour. Way overboard. Snow belongs to everyone”
“Sorry Danny. You are wrong. We’re Canadians and do the right thing. We share”.
“OMG. My husband agrees with you”
Thoughts? I’d love to hear what you have to say! ~ Cheers.
