A housefire has totally destroyed a home in Middle Sackville.

At about 3:40 a.m., they got a call about a fire on McCabe Lake Drive, according to a social media post from the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters union. They are also known as local branch 268 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Eight minutes later, crews from Station 10 in Middle Sackville arrived and found the home totally engulfed, they said.

They escalated the call to second alarm, which brought in more resources from other stations as far as Bedford, Upper Tantallon, Fall River and mutual aid from Mount Uniacke, the post read.

Crews are still on scene and are asking people to avoid the area.
