The polls have closed in Nova Scotia, and it is a tight race in Cape Breton-Canso-Antigonish, formerly Cape Breton – Canso, since expanding in 2022.

There is no incumbent.

So far Liberal candidate Jaime Battiste has a lead over Conservative candidate, Allan MacMaster.

Battiste was in the running to be the Liberal candidate for Prime Minister but stepped away to support Mark Carney.

Conservative candidate Allan MacMaster is trying to try his hand at federal politics after years of being MLA of Inverness.

He had the largest nomination vote in Atlantic Canada to secure him the spot.

Also, notable is the riding of Central Nova which encompasses Pictou County, the municipality of the District of St. Mary’s and sections of HRM.

Conservative Brycen Jenkins has now taken the lead over former MP Liberal Sean Fraser.

Fraser threw his hat back in the ring after stepping away from federal politics in December to spend more time with family.

A phone call from Prime Minister Mark Carney changed his mind, even after a Liberal candidate was already selected.
