The fire hazard in the Kenora District is in the extreme range.
Already this afternoon, there is one new wildfire that is considered out of control.
Kenora Fire #17 is a 5-hectare blaze near Pistol Lake near Minaki.
One was reported this afternoon just west of Minaki near Pistol Lake.
It has already grown to 5 hectares in size.
Another is located near War Eagle Lake near the west entrance of the Kenora By-Pass.
It is listed at one hectare in size and not under control.
Further to the southeast, Highway 11 near Atikokan has been closed between Highway 623 and Highway 633 due to a forest fire.
It has ballooned over 75 hectares in just over an hour.
Meanwhile, a fire ban has been put in place in Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls.
That means all burning permits have been suspended, and open-air burning is not permitted, including campfires.
