Shediac Cape students are about to get answers on where their new school will be built.
Officials are expected to announce the location of the new building Monday morning.
The new kindergarten-to-Grade 12 facility will replace the current kindergarten-to-Grade 8 school, which has been struggling with overcrowding.
By the time the project was announced in 2022, Shediac Cape School was 50 per cent over capacity, leading to space shortages for students.
The new building will also help ease enrolment pressures at Moncton-area high schools, where Shediac Cape students currently attend beyond Grade 8.
Shediac Cape’s new school was not previously identified as a priority but was added due to the area’s rapidly growing population, according to a government release.
The province says the change reflects a commitment to addressing space shortages and ensuring students have access to modern learning environments.
