Home Depot’s Orange Door Project is back.

The fundraising campaign is supporting Shelter House in Thunder Bay.

The donations are being used to invest in infrastructure and to purchase resources.

This includes investing in training for staff to better meet the needs of youth, the purchase of laptops, the purchase of new mattresses, as well as food, and more.

“This initiative, beyond the funding and Home Depot has been a wonderful partner for several years now, and they’ve brought in, you know, thousands and thousands of dollars,” explained Shelter House Executive Director Brendan Carlin. “Beyond that, it really does a great job of raising awareness of the unhoused, of our organization, and really these are people who are at their most vulnerable.”

“They’re at difficult spots in life, and we believe that everybody counts or nobody counts. So we wanna do the best we can to help people, and wherever they are in life and Home Depot and the people who donate are a great part of that.”

Donations are being accepted until June 22 at the store’s checkout or online by clicking here.

Home Depot Canada launched the Orange Door Project fundraising campaign in 2009.

Stores collaborate with local charities to support ongoing initiatives aimed at providing safe, stable housing and life skills for youth experiencing homelessness.

The company covers all administrative costs associated with the campaign, ensuring that 100 per cent of donations directly benefit each local community.
