Extensive damage avoided by fire crews on Cumberland Street South.

Crews were called out to the Gateway Casino area just before 4:00p.m. Thursday to a two-story apartment.

The initial alarm was quickly upgraded to a second alarm after the first arriving truck saw heavy smoke coming over the top of the building.

The fire was contained to the single apartment unit.

There were no injuries and no known cause of the blaze.
