One person was rescued from a burning home in the Welch Cove area in Maces Bay.

A member of the Musquash fire department, who was nearby, arrived on the scene just after 10 pm on Wednesday.

They were able to gain entry and safely escort the homeowner out.

The residence was fully engulfed when other members of the Musquash Fire Department arrived.

Thirty-five loads of water were shuttled to the scene, and a drone was used to ensure all of the hot spots were out.

Firefighters were there for several hours.

The cause of the blaze is still being determined.

The home is a total loss.

Ambulance New Brunswick and the RCMP also assisted.
