A bit of a victory for the Department of Natural Resources and firefighters.
The wildfire in Irishtown was downgraded on Wednesday night to contained status.
It remains at 45 hectares on Thursday morning, and crews will continue to work to fully extinguish hot spots over the coming days.
Evacuation advisories for residents in that area were also lifted.
As of Thursday morning, there are thirteen fires still burning, with three labelled as out of control.
That includes one in the Miramichi area that has spread to over 1350 hectares.
A burn ban, which includes campfires in provincial parks, remains in place for the entire province, and recreational activities on Crown lands are not permitted. In addition, forestry operations such as harvesting, forwarding, skidding, scarification, chipping and all pre-commercial thinning and cleaning remain suspended indefinitely.
