The Thunder Bay Community Auditorium won’t have any shows come January 31st.
The province unveiled the gradual and phased in re-opening plan Thursday, which will start with social gatherings limited to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors and indoor public settings capped at 50 per cent capacity or 500 people, whichever is less.
General Manager Bob Halvorsen feels until there is stability with life as we know it, show organizers will keep things off the stage.
“A lot of them have started and stopped this exercise probably, I wouldn’t even want to venture a guess, just based on the amount of times they’ve put the shows on hold you know just for (our facility),” remarked Halvorsen.
The Auditorium suspended ticket sales for upcoming shows on December 16th, citing Ontario’s decision at the time to re-institute capacity limits in certain indoor settings.
Halvorsen did add that the Auditorium is in the process of applying for the provincial rebate announced on Monday, which will cover between 50 and 100 per cent of costs for facilities that have had to close or reduce capacity.
