A natural gas leak has led to evacuations in Dartmouth.

At this hour, a mandatory evacuation is in place for all buildings in Pinecrest.

The evacuation zone covers Albro Lake Road, Pinecrest Drive, Crystal Drive and across the lake as far as Lancaster Drive in Dartmouth.

Four Halifax Transit buses are heading to the area to provide temporary shelter for those evacuated.

Nova Scotia Power has also cut power to the area, affecting about 6,500 customers.

Listeners are reporting that the Mic Mac Mall is closed.

In a post on ‘X,’ Eastward Energy says they’re investigating third party damage to a gas line at the intersection of Pinecrest Drive and Jackson Road.

They say they’re responding and will provide more information when possible.
