A provincial conciliation officer has asked the Dalhousie University board to return to the negotiation table on Monday.

Conciliation officer Rick Rose has asked both sides to return, and the Dalhousie Faculty Association (DFA) has already agreed.

Catherine Wall, communications officer for the Dalhousie Faculty Association, confirmed that news Thursday morning.

She said she “welcomes the opportunity to bargain.”

“We are hopeful the Board agrees to the same,” Wall wrote in an email.

The university locked out the DFA on Aug. 20, and the union went on strike Aug. 22. The DFA wants better wages, but they also want better working conditions, including better contracts, more access to the campus daycare, and leave for Indigenous people.
