A Saint John police officer is recovering after being stabbed while responding to a disturbance Monday night.

Officers were called to a business in the Galbraith Place area around 8:50 p.m. on Monday.

Police say the suspect was found at another nearby business, and during an attempt to speak with her, one officer was stabbed.

The 30-year-old woman was arrested without injury.

Police say the injured officer was treated at the scene, taken to the hospital and later released. Her injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

There were several people inside the store at the time, but no other physical injuries were reported.

The woman is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday afternoon to answer to multiple charges in connection with the incident, according to the Saint John police.
