Could the new police headquarters be off the table for 2022 Budget talks?

Ahead of Wednesday’s meeting, a motion has been put forward by Mayor Bill Mauro to delay the $56 million debenture request until the 2023 Operating and Capital Budget deliberations.

The ask is for $2.4 million be allocated from Renew Thunder Bay to look at land purchase and preliminary design of the new facility.

The motion was supported by the Police Services Board, who approved asking City Council for the approximately $56 million build in April 2021.
