A boating incident in West Caledonia ended in tragedy, Saturday, claiming the life of two children.

Queens County RCMP say it was just before 5 p.m. when emergency crews alongside the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) responded to a report of a boater in distress in Lake Rossignol.

A 45-year-old man and three children from Fall River were in a boat when it flipped over.

All four were found and airlifted to hospital in a search and rescue helicopter.

The man and one child have injuries that are not life-threatening, however, the other two children have passed away from their injuries.

RCMP say their thoughts are with the victims’ family as they continue to investigate.
