Do you think a concept like this would work in our city?

Paul Jenkinson  is a retired social worker from Nova Scotia. He’s been touring the country since May, with one goal: to listen to people and maybe help them.  The concept is simple:  set up in a park with a table, 2 chairs and a sign that reads, “You are not alone.  I will listen.  Sit down, relax.  No cost”.

He says he wants to make human connections, and create a safe space where people can share what they’re feeling at that moment in time.  He’s hoping that a face to face connection can spark a conversation and make them feel better.  He’s not only hearing from students;  he’s also had conversations with recovering addicts, and people who just want to sit down and share a good story.

There’s no timeline, no topic is off limits, no charge and no pressure.  Paul plans to continue the tour until next Spring.  He even has a Go Fund Me page set up, that’s raised well over $10,000.  He’s using that for gas in his car, hotel and food.

It’s called “The I Will Listen Tour”. Check it out online.
