The Winter Olympics are underway for another year with the usual array of events. One sport that should be included in the schedule is skijoring.  Even though it was featured as an exhibition sport at the 1928 Winter Olympics, it has basically been forgotten. Skijoring involves skiers being pulled by dogs or horses, and in the 1950s even motorcycles and cars. It started in Scandinavian countries as a mode of travel and has grown in popularity, especially in North America where skiers are pulled by a horse through an obstacle course.

The sport has also grown in competition for cross-country skiers pulled by dogs, very popular in Minneapolis.

Hopefully, skijoring will be added to the Winter Olympics in the future.
