Every home / every town / every country has a Christmas tradition.  Here are some Christmas traditions from around the world:

PHILIPPINES: there’s a giant Lantern Festival.  With huge lanterns lighting up the sky, that symbolizes hope and unity.

ICELAND: has the 13 Yule Lads.  These are mischievous troll-like figures who visit children in the 13 nights before Christmas, leaving gifts or potatoes depending on their behaviour.

MEXICO: locals carve radishes into elaborate nativity scenes and compete for prizes.

In early January – LA BEFANA is celebrated in Italy. A friendly witch delivers gifts to children.

WALES: Are you ready for this one?  A horse’s skull decorated with ribbons is paraded door to door.  This has been going on for centuries!

No matter how one celebrates, there’s one thing we all have in common:  Christmas is meant to be enjoyed with those we love.
