The Kashechewan First Nation says response from the federal and provincial government has been slow and inadequate.

The community declared a State of Emergency on January 4th because of a failure of the water system.

As a result, the health clinic on the First Nation was flooded with raw sewage.

Two days later an evacuation of the community was organized.

A number of Indigenous agencies, including the Nishnawbe Aski Nation are calling once again for the re-location of Kashechewan.

Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler is calling on both levels of government to prioritize re-location.
