Environment Canada has issued various weather alerts across Nova Scotia.
Yellow winter storm warnings have been issued for Guysborough, Richmond and Cape Breton counties along with Sydney Metro.
According to the warning, heavy snowfall and high winds are expected.
Between 20 and 35 centimetres are forecast, although higher amounts are possible locally.
Winds are forecast to gust northeasterly between 70 and 80 km/h, except 90 along parts of the coast.
The conditions are expected from early Sunday evening until early Monday afternoon.
According to Environment Canada, recent computer guidance has been trending to reduce the amount of snow expected in these areas, so there’s uncertainty about where the heaviest snowfall will be. There is not strong agreement and even a slight shift back could still bring even higher amounts for these areas.
Yellow snowfall warnings have been issued for Antigonish County, Halifax County east of Porters Lake, Inverness County south of Mabou, along with Pictou and Victoria counties.
Between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow is expected, with locally higher amounts possible.
Gusty northeast winds with the snow will cause reduced visibility at times in blowing snow.
Conditions are expected early Sunday evening, continuing through early Monday afternoon.
The rest of the province is under a special weather statement, with five to 15 centimetres of snow forecast and wind gusts north to northeasterly between 70 and 80 km/h.
These conditions are expected to begin late Sunday afternoon or early evening, with snow ending from west to east Monday morning.
