Halifax Regional Police continue to respond to a situation involving an armed and barricaded individual in the Arlington Avenue area, near Joseph Howe Drive.
The incident began Wednesday evening and remains ongoing.
Cst. Martin Cromwell confirmed to our newsroom Thursday morning that officers are still on scene, and residents are being asked to avoid the area until further notice.
No injuries have been reported.
At the same time, a power outage is affecting more than 500 homes in the surrounding neighbourhood.
According to Nova Scotia Power, the outage began at 6:54 a.m. and is being carried out as an “emergency outage for public safety,”.
Police have not confirmed whether the outage is directly connected to the ongoing situation.
