The official Leaders’ Debates for this election will go ahead without the People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier.

The Commissioner of the debates, David Johnston, announced that the French and English debates will feature the leaders of the Liberals, Conservatives, Greens, NDP, and Block Québécois.

He says that’s because the PPC didn’t have any representation in the House of Commons, enough votes in the last election, or enough support in any qualifying national polls.

The Maverick Party was also not invited on those same grounds.

The French debate is happening on September 8th, while the English debate will be held on September 9th.
