Thunder Bay’s cyclists have a spoke-tacular weekend in store.
This Saturday, bike lanes across the city will officially open for the season.
On-street parking restrictions in designated bike lanes will be enforced. Details are provided on local signs.
The city is reminding motorists to be aware of people riding their bikes and share the road by watching at intersections, giving space, and slowing down near bike riders.
As for the cyclists, they are reminded that bikes with a wheel diameter greater than 43 centimetres are not allowed on sidewalks, and should use the right-hand side of the roadway in areas where cycling infrastructure is not present.
In the words of Freddie Mercury, get on your bikes and ride.
